Horner won't rule out Alonso move

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner stopped short of denying an interest in Fernando Alonso as Mark Webber's replacement for next season.

With the Aussie on his way out, Red Bull are seeking a new team-mate for Sebastian Vettel with Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen leading the chase.

However, ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix, Alonso's manager Luis Garcia Abad was seen talking to Horner.

This, of course, sparked speculation about whether Alonso, despite having another three years on his Ferrari contract, was considering a move.

Asked about it, Horner told Press Association: "We're in a fortunate position where there is quite a lot of interest in the seat for next year.

"We'll look to make the right decision to ensure we have the right driver alongside Sebastian for next year."

Told this was not exactly a denial, the Red Bull team boss added: "Any conversations with other drivers or other parties are always going to remain confidential.

"There have been quite a few drivers who have expressed an interest in the seat, as you can imagine."

Pushed on the subject of whether Alonso was on Red Bull's radar, Horner said: "Is he available? I don't know. You ask him.

"We've some great options. We don't need to be in a rush.

"You always want to put the strongest drivers in your cars that you possibly can. Mark leaves some big shoes to be filled."
