Michael Schumacher remains in a stable but critical condition after a third night in a French hospital.

The seven-time suffered a serious head injury while skiing at Meribel on Sunday morning.

The German reportedly hit a rock while trying to turn and "was catapulted in the air and apparently went head down hitting another rock."

Airlifted to hospital, he has undergone two operations to relieve the swelling and remove clots.

His spokesperson Sabine Kehm addressed the waiting media on Wednesday where - after a massive media scrum - she revealed that little had changed in the 44-year-old's condition.

"Michael's condition has been supervised all night and has remained stable all the night and also now," she said.

"For today we will not hold a press conference because there are no significant changes.

"That is good news for the moment but I want to stress it is still very early and his condition overall is still very critical.

"But it is good that he was stable last night and stable this morning."

Asked about the next 24 hours, Kehm made it clear that she cannot give details as that was not her field.

She refused to give information about Schumacher's family although it is known that his wife and children are by his side while his father was seen arriving at the hospital.

"I don't want to go into details about his family and who exactly here.

"His family is with him, they are backing him, they are trying to support him by being his side.

"I will not go into further details about his family."
