Former F1 driver Eddie Irvine has been handed a six month sentence by an Italian court for a nightclub brawl.
The 48-year-old Ulsterman, who won four grands prix during his F1 career which included a four-year stint with Ferrari, was involved in the brawl back in December 2008.
The incident took place in the the VIP section of the Hollywood nightclub in Milan.
Irvine and his co-accused, Gabriele Moratti, the son of a former Milan mayor, had both stated that the other was the aggressor.
The court found both guilty of "mutual injury" and they were sentenced to six months in prison.
Reuters, however, reports that lawyers for both said that their sentences would probably be suspended meaning neither would do jail time.
