Rob Smedley, Felipe Massa's former race engineer, has joined the Brazilian at Williams as the Grove team's Head of Vehicle Performance.
The pair won't work as closely as they did during their time at Ferrari, with Smedley taking up 'a newly created position which will strengthen the trackside team whilst also supporting the development work back at the factory to help bring more performance to the car throughout the season.'
He will start in his new role at Williams during April this year and 'will be supported by Race Engineers Andrew Murdoch, who is engineer to Felipe Massa, and Jonathan Eddolls, who remains with Valtteri Bottas in 2014.'
Although Smedley's move from Ferrari to Williams has been rumoured to be agreed for some time, his reunion with Massa is purely coincidental.
Williams revealed that, in fact, negotiations with Smedley had already begun before Ferrari decided to replace Felipe Massa towards the end of last year.
Massa and Smedley spent a total of eight years at Ferrari and forged a strong working relationship during that time.
