Alonso not ready for new contract talks

Ferrari may be ready to open new contract talks with Fernando Alonso, but the Spaniard insists he has other priorities.

The two-time World Champion's current deal with the Scuderia runs until the 2016 season and Italian media reported on Thursday that Ferrari are ready to offer him a better deal in an attempt to end the ongoing speculation that he could leave for McLaren next season.

Alonso's Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen has already admitted he will probably retire when his deal runs out at the end of next season.

However, it looks like Alonso will remain at Maranello for at least a couple more seasons.

Asked by the Spanish media about renewing his current deal, he replied: "For now I am focusing on improving the car and trying to get Ferrari to the best possible position in the Constructors' Championship where we are fighting with Red Bull, Williams and Force India. And then we have to look at solutions for the 2015 car. Those are my priorities.

"I have two-year contract and eventually we will see what the best solution is for everyone."
