Mark Webber insists he "still enjoys driving the cars" in Formula One and hinted he could stay in the sport beyond this season.

The veteran Australian's future in F1 remains a hot topic for debate in the wake of the controversial Malaysian Grand Prix when his team-mate Sebastian Vettel ignored team orders to claim the win ahead of him.

Webber was not only linked with a move away from Red Bull after the race, but some reports suggested he could quit F1 altogether and join Porsche to spearhead their Le Mans return.

However, the 36-year-old insists people are reading too much into things.

"People are putting two and two together and getting a bit more than they should do," he told BBC Sport.

"I'm looking forward to this year. As long as you're competitive and can get work, which is not a big issue for me at the moment, things are going well."

Asked if he wanted to stay in F1 in 2014, he replied: "That's a good question. I still enjoy driving the cars. The tyres have made it a little bit more challenging - the job as a driver has changed a bit for sure, the camaraderie is massive.

"That's a big factor in this sport. This stuff [the speculation that surrounds F1], you get a bit long in the tooth for that.

"As you get older you get less tolerant of other aspects of the job but ultimately the drug is still very powerful, to drive you to do the job you wanted to do in the first place which is driving the car."
