Bulls: No rush to release Prodromou

McLaren may have to wait a while before they will be able to count on the services of Peter Prodromou.

The Woking squad announced over the weekend that they had signed Red Bull's head of aerodynamics Prodromou, who will return to McLaren having worked for them between 1991 and 2006.

However, his deal with Red Bull expires at the end of the 2014 season and the Milton Keynes outfit's team principal Christian Horner has made it clear that they are not planning on allowing him to join their rivals early.

"The duration of his contract runs for quite a while yet," Horner told The Guardian. "We are certainly in no rush to release him early and he will be with the team to the end of his existing agreement."

Meanwhile, McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh admits they are not sure when exactly Prodromou will be joining the squad.

"He has a contract that he will be working for us in the future," he said. "But currently he is employed by Red Bull and we have to respect that and that's why I don't think we're talking about time frames."
