Ricciardo: Win will motivate Vettel

Daniel Ricciardo believes his Canadian GP victory will inspire team-mate Sebastian Vettel as he too looks for his first win of this season.

Red Bull have struggled this season as their Renault engine has failed to match the power and pace of its Mercedes counterpart.

As a result, Mercedes ran away with the first six races of the season although Ricciardo was on hand in Canada to take advantage when the Brackley team ran into trouble.

Now with his first win on the board, the Aussie expects team-mate Vettel will be even more fired up to join him.

"I think it's still okay," he said during Thursday's press conference when he was asked about his relationship with the German. "He showed a lot of respect and good sportsmanship after the race.

"Obviously he would have loved to have been on the top step [of the podium], but he was happy for me that I got it, which is good.

"It's just going to make him more motivated so I obviously can't rest now and can't get too complacent.

"Keep pushing and hopefully it works well for both of us to get further up the grid."
