Button looking to get back on track

Jenson Button admits he needs a strong showing in Canada in order to get his season back on track after a few disappointing results.

Button started his campaign on a high note, claiming the race win at the very first race of the season. Since then it's been downhill for the Brit.

He bagged just one podium finish in the next five races, one additional points-finish and retired from two. As a result he trails Championship leader Fernando Alonso by 31 points.

Button, though, insists he's not worried about the gap although admits he needs a strong showing in Montreal to get his campaign back on track.

"To be fair, I purposefully haven't looked at the points for the last few races but I don't think anyone is streaking away in the Championship just yet - as we've seen, it's been a very mixed bag this year," said Button.

"In the last few races, I've retired twice and scored two points in the other race - they've haven't been my finest weekends so, yes, I need to score some good points this weekend to get it back on track."

The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix winner added: "We all come here aiming for victory, but what we've seen this season is that consistently scoring points in double figures is the key to fighting at the front. This season, getting consistent second places would be leading the Championship."
