Button frustrated by early stops

Jenson Button has questioned McLaren's strategy in Hungary, saying he doesn't know why he was always the first to pit.

Fighting for the podium in the opening stint of Sunday's 69-lap Hungarian Grand Prix, Button was the first of the front runners to pit in all three of his stops, pushing the Brit further and further down the order.

The last two stops were also badly timed with Button emerging in traffic, the most notable of which was Bruno Senna who kept the Brit behind him for eight very costly laps.

"I just don't know why we pitted so early each time," said the McLaren driver who finished sixth, half a minute behind his race winning team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

"On the second and third stops we pitted very early and the tyres were still in good condition.

"I guess the team thought I would get the jump on the car in front but that wasn't the case. I didn't come out in clean air either time.

"I said to the guys, is this 'traffic I'm in quicker than the guys in front?' and they said 'no'.

"I was a bit stuffed really, I don't think we looked too good when it came to strategy today. Hopefully we'll learn from that."
