Button: Tow helps at Monza

Jenson Button wouldn't bother organising team-mate towing at Monza but admits it definitely gives the second driver a speed advantage.

Ferrari attempted towing at the start of Saturday's pole position shoot-out with Felipe Massa being given a hand by Fernando Alonso.

However, when the McLarens ventured out they did so separately without any intention of giving one or the other a boost.

"It is something that personally I feel it is difficult to plan," Button said.

"It is difficult to get it right. You concentrate too much on it and getting the braking point right. The way we did it was much better, just finding traffic on the circuit."

Button, though, did experience the advantage of the tow when he came up behind Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel.

"In Q3 I realised how much [difference] a tow makes. I was able to get a reasonable tow off Vettel, which surprisingly made a big difference."

That played a role in Button's front row grid slot with the McLaren driver posting a 1:24.133 to take second behind his team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

"For us both to be on the front row is fantastic for the team. The last three races we have shown strength, and qualifying both cars on front row is great, so thank you very much.

"It doesn't matter who is alongside you, [the first corner] is always an interesting corner, especially because it is such a long run down there. You cannot plan it."
