Button: I feel embedded in McLaren

Jenson Button has reiterated that he will be with McLaren next season, saying his new contract is a mere formality.

The Formula One veteran raised a few eyebrows in August when he revealed that the Woking squad are yet to exercise their option to extend his contract until the 2014 campaign.

However, he was quick to play down suggestions that he could leave the team and admitted recently that he not only wants to be at McLaren next year, but also in 2015 when Honda takes over as their engine supplier.

Although he still hasn't put pen to paper, the 2009 World Champion insists it is just a "matter of time" before it's a done deal.

"I don't think I have to worry about the team wanting me here," Button is quoted as saying by Autosport.

"It [his admission he has not yet agreed a deal for 2014] was a fact - that was it really.

"They want me, I want to be here, so it will happen; it's just a matter of time.

"I feel like a big part of this team and I feel we are good together. I feel very embedded in this team.

"I would definitely miss being here and they'd definitely miss me being here as well.

"Ultimately in everybody's life and every relationship comes to an end, for whatever reason.

"But it's a very good partnership and we've worked very well over the past four years and there's definitely more to come."

Next year will mark Button's 14th consecutive season on the grid and he is also no spring chicken at the age of 33, but that doesn't mean he is thinking about calling it a day just yet.

"Not really - I'm thinking about contracts for the future," he replied when asked about retirement.

"I feel that I'm doing a very good job, and I'm getting the most out of the car most weekends.

"All that I can hope for is to push myself to the limit and make sure I get the maximum out of myself and I feel I'm doing that, so there's no reason to move on or try something new. I'm enjoying my racing.

"You know someone's got to come and do a better job than me first before I can start think about retirement."
