Senna: Di Resta deserved penalty

Senna: Di Resta deserved penalty

Bruno Senna thinks Paul di Resta should have been handed a penalty at Monza after running the Williams driver off the road.

Fighting for tenth place in the Italian Grand Prix, Senna attempted to over the Force India driver down the outside into the Roggia chicane.

But instead of taking tenth, Senna was lucky not to crash as di Resta closed the door, resulting in the two touching and the Williams driver being pushed off the track.

"It was pretty clear," Senna told Autosport

"I had the front wing of my car next to his car and then of course the tyre under braking and he squeezed me off the track. We touched.

"Fortunately, we didn't launch each other but for me a driver has been banned for a race for doing something similar to that and even [Sebastian] Vettel got a drive-through penalty for squeezing [Fernando] Alonso off the track.

"It's a stewards' decision, so we'll respect it, but I don't think that what Paul did was right. It's racing and sometimes we make errors in judgement but it's up to the stewards to decide."
