Massa confirms Williams talks

Felipe Massa has confirmed that he is in talks with Williams but insists he won't join a team as a paying driver.

The Brazilian is in the hunt for a new team after announcing that he would be leaving Ferrari at the end of this season.

Although Lotus have been mentioned in the past, rumours suggest that Williams could be the more likely home for the 11-time grand prix winner.

"Sometimes you hear so many things about you and at the right time I will comment about that," Massa told Autosport when asked about Williams.

"I am talking with a few teams, including Williams, but I have nothing to say at the moment."

He added: "I'm pretty much confident that I am going to find an interesting direction.

"Until you are sure, it is always a little risk, but I am positive that I can find this and I am working for that.

"I will not go to a small team, I will go to the team that has some possibilities to do a good car and I hope I can find this solution."

The 32-year-old also ruled out the possibility of paying for his drive, saying that while he is okay with being part of a commercial package, he wants a team who wants him for what he delivers out on track.

"I am not a paying driver, so I will not go to the team just because I have a sponsor," he said.

"I will go to a team for my experience, for what I showed already in my career.

"I hope I can find a direction to get a chance in a team that wants to have me for what I am and not for what I can give in terms of money.

"[Being part of a commercial package] is not bringing money to the team, this I helping to find a good direction.

"What I can do to help a team, I am helping myself. Whatever you can have to improve the situation, to improve the development, to do the best you can for the team by using your name is definitely welcome."
