Bottas sees rule changes as 'good thing'

Valtterri Bottas is hopeful that the major changes to the 2014 regulations will play into his hands.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a solid debut campaign in Formula One this year, finishing as the top rookie in 2013 and outscoring his Williams team-mate Pastor Maldonado by four points to one.

However, next year will be a different kettle of fish for all the drivers on the grid as several new rules - of which the move to the new 1.6l turbo engines is the most crucial - will come into effect.

Bottas, who will partner Felipe Massa at Williams next year, welcomed the challenge as he believes it is a "good thing".

"The positive thing next year is that there are so many changes, [so] even [for] drivers with a lot of experience there will be a lot more new things for them," he said.

"In the end, I see it as a good thing.

"For me, and especially for the team, it's a good thing to catch up.

"We have a lot to think about, especially at the beginning of the season, getting comfortable with everything, and I do look forward to that. It will also be interesting to feel the turbo engines and how they behave.

"It's very interesting, especially for a driver. There are a lot of new things."
