Despite a solid start to pre-season testing, Claire Williams has ruled out revising Williams expectations for 2014.

Not only did Williams have better reliability than many of their rivals at Jerez but the Mercedes-powered FW36 also showed pace.

Felipe Massa's 1:23.700 from Thursday was the week's second fastest time, 0.424s adrift of Kevin Magnussen's P1 time.

But despite this, Williams has ruled out revising the team's expectations.

She told Sky Sports: "No, we never do that, not at Williams.

"It is the first test and it is a really difficult year or a very different year for everyone with the regulations.

"We did have a good test at Jerez, which is great for the team, a really good boost but it is a very long season as everybody knows."

As for new signing Massa, who joined Williams after eight years with Ferrari, the deputy team principal had only words of praise for the Brazilian.

"He is great," she said. "He is such a great guy. He's lovely guy.

"I think for him this is a new challenge which is exciting for him.

"It's exciting for everyone at the team. He's a great motivator as well."
