Kimi: Things can only get better

Kimi Raikkonen reckons Sunday's race at the Canadian Grand Prix can surely not be any worse than his qualifying performance.

The Finn was speaking after he struggled to ninth on the grid on Saturday - even before he received the grid penalty that dropped him down to 10th.

Raikkonen said the wet conditions simply did not suit his Lotus.

"This morning we only had three laps in the dry and it was better than yesterday," he said. "But it's hard to say how it's going to be tomorrow, with more fuel on, because we changed the car overnight. But usually we're stronger on heavy fuel loads. In any case, we cannot do much worse than we did today, so I'm sure we're going to improve and have a good race."

Raikkonen is hoping for a dryer and warmer race on Sunday.

"This kind of cold weather has never been good for us; we don't really get the tyres to work as they should," he added. "That makes it very difficult, but that's what it is...

"We'll have to see how the weather is tomorrow, for the race. There are some weather forecasts that say it will be dry, others say conditions will be like today. If it's dry it's going to easier for us and we'll see what we can do."
