Hong Kong is keen to join the F1 fraternity as the city gears up for a taste of the sport thanks to a Red Bull exhibition run.
Red Bull's Running Showcar travels east this weekend to put on a motorsports spectacular on the streets of Hong Kong.
Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari will be behind the wheel of a F1 car, running on a 600-metre stretch in central Hong Kong on Saturday.
The event is expected to attract 40,000 spectators, prompting the city's Automobile Association president Wesley Wan to dream of a Hong Kong Grand Prix.
"This is the first step in gaining the support of the people," Wan told the South China Morning Post.
"We want to raise the exposure of Formula One by staging this live show, and I hope it will lead to Hong Kong hosting a grand prix race one day.
"My dream is that Hong Kong, like Singapore, Malaysia and China, will be a stop on the grand prix circuit."
He added: "As far as a street circuit is concerned, if Monte Carlo and Singapore can have it, why can't Hong Kong?"
Wan, though, did concede that F1 doesn't come cheap, although he believes it will have a huge economic benefit thanks largely to tourists.
