Webber sent to back of the grid

Mark Webber will start the Chinese Grand Prix from the back of the grid after his results were excluded from qualifying following refuelling glitch.

The Australian, running fifth-fastest mid-way through Q2, was ordered to stop on the track by the Red Bull pit wall as he had too little fuel in his RB9.

The call meant he was due to start Sunday's race P14 on the grid as he failed to make it through to Q3, but it won't matter in the end as he has been sent to the back of the grid.

He does, though, have the choice of changing his set-up and starting from the pit lane the same way his team-mate Sebastian Vettel did in Abu Dhabi last year.

"It was a lack of fuel pressure so I couldn't get back, so we stopped the car and qualifying was over before it started really," Webber said.

The 36-year-old only had 150ml fuel left in his tank and Red Bull said "a fuel bowser problem caused an incorrect fuel measurement to be delivered to Mark's car".

Rules state: "After a practice session, if a car has not been driven back to the pits under its own power, it will be required to supply the above mentioned sample plus the amount of fuel that would have been consumed to drive back to the pits."

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner revealed that the Australian's car was underfuelled by three kilograms due to a computer error.
