Hamilton: It was racing

Lewis Hamilton reckons it was a "good race" in Italy on Sunday even if he did spend much of it behind Michael Schumacher and got baulked.

The McLaren driver was determined to finish the grand prix after being criticised for failing to do just that the last time out in Belgium.

And perhaps it showed in his driving.

Passed by Schumacher at the re-start on lap 2, Hamilton spent the next 26 laps trying to find a way through.

He did manage to overtake Schumacher on lap 13 through Parabolica but the German fought back, retaking the position around the Curve Grande.

Schumacher then baulked Hamilton on lap 21 when he made a double move to defend his position, resulting in the Brit bringing his antics to his team's attention.

Hamilton was finally released from Schumacher's dirty air on lap 28 and scampered off into the distance.

Such was his pace after he got by that he managed to challenge Fernando Alonso for third place come the final lap.

But it wasn't to be and Hamilton had to settle for fourth place and 12 more World Championship points.

"It was a good race. I got some points and I finished, so I can't complain at all," he told BBC Sport.

But, clearly wanting Hamilton to complain, he was pressed about the incident with Schumacher.

He said: "It was racing."
