Whitmarsh: A 'fairly testy effort' from Seb

Martin Whitmarsh was not overly impressed with Sebastian Vettel attempting to run his driver off the track at the start of the Japanese GP.

Jenson Button got off to a great start at Suzuka on Sunday afternoon, immediately launching a challenge for the lead. However, Vettel was having none of it.

Starting P1, the German moved across the track to cover Button's line and in fact pushed him into putting two wheels onto the grass.

And although Vettel escaped without a penalty for the move, Whitmarsh was not impressed.

"I think it was a fairly testy effort really," the McLaren team boss told the BBC.

"Jenson made a good launch and had he not been driven off the road, he could have got by."

Whitmarsh, though, reckons that in the end Vettel's move on Button actually played into the Brit's hands.

"I think this added to his desire to win this race," he explained.
