Boullier: Vitaly is okay

Vitaly Petrov sustained bruising to the legs, but didn't break any bones during his heavy shunt at the Monaco GP, according to Renault team boss Eric Boullier.

The Russian was taken to hospital after he crashed into the barriers at the Swimming Pool following an incident involving Lewis Hamilton, Adrian Sutil and the lapped Jaime Alguersuari during the latter stages of Sunday's grand prix.

The race was red flagged as medics removed Petrov from his car and the 26-year-old complained of a leg injury while was being tended to.

However, team boss Boullier confirmed that the injury wasn't too serious.

"Vitaly is okay," Boullier told BBC Sport.

"He's just complaining about leg injuries, but the doctors say nothing is broken. They are taking him to hospital for observation, but it seems to be just bruising to the legs."

Meanwhile, the team released a statement saying that "once at hospital, it was confirmed that there was no swelling or broken bone.

"As a precaution, Vitaly will undergo a full body scan but he should be back in the paddock within a few hours."
