Whiting visits Austin track

FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting visited the Circuit of the Americas in Austin on Tuesday to get an update on the construction of the track.

The circuit will play host to the US Grand Prix on 16 November and Whiting's inspection is in line with normal protocol.

"It is clear that the significant resources Circuit of The Americas has committed to completing this facility on time and to FIA specifications is making a difference," Whiting is quoted as saying by the American-Statesman.

"The more than 500 construction workers on site daily are making great progress, and I plan to return to Austin at the end of August for an update."

An official inspection will be held on 25 September, 60 days before the grand prix is scheduled to take place.
