With the demand for tickets greater than expected, the Circuit of the Americas has announced that two new grandstands will be built ahead of the November race.

Earlier this month three-day reserved grandstand seats and general admission tickets for the inaugural Austin race went on sale and were quickly snapped up by fans delighted in F1's return to America.

The demand for tickets has now led to the organisers announcing that two additional grandstands will be erected at at Turn 9 and Turn 11 West of the circuit.

"We continue to be amazed by worldwide fan interest in our inaugural Formula 12 event and have listened to our customers' requests for additional reserved seating options," said COTA's Vice President of Public and Community Relations Julie Loignon.

"Within one week, we sold out the reserved seating sections located at Turns 2, 3, 4, 5, 12 and Turn 11 East.

"Our seating plan offers us the flexibility to make adjustments based on customer demand, and we are pleased to offer additional grandstand seating in areas that offer great views of the action."
