Alonso: We are going backwards

Fernando Alonso admits Ferrari need to start getting both cars in the points if they don't want to slip further down in the standings.

The Spaniard has scored points in every race this season, but the same cannot be said of his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen as the Finn has struggled to get the best out of the F14 T.

As a result, Ferrari have dropped behind Williams in the Constructors' Championship and Alonso knows they can only turn that around by having regular top-10 finishes.

"At the moment we are not super happy with the performance, either him or me, and we try to keep improving to score more points because, especially with the Constructors' Championship, we are going backwards a little bit and we need to put both cars in the points as many times as possible," he said.

Alonso has scored 97 points to Raikkonen's 19, but the two-time World Champion isn't really sure why he is outperforming the Finn so constantly this season.

"I don't really have an opinion on that," he said.

"Obviously the car is not great and we lack some downforce and traction. We had difficulties with braking at the first couple of races with brake-by-wire and other systems that we had new this year. Probably he was not feeling confident with the car and he was not totally happy with the balance."
