Jenson Button feels a combination of poor pace on soft tyres and a lack of KERS for most of the race was the main reason for his inability to challenge Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso for the top two spots in Abu Dhabi.
After starting in third place on the grid, a slow start saw him lose one spot to Ferrari's Alonso. He then found himself in a scrap with Mark Webber for the final podium finish, but a tardy pit stop from the Red Bull driver gave him a nice comfort zone.
However, while he didn't have too much pressure from behind, he was also unable to close the gap to the front two and finished more than 17s behind second-place man Alonso.
Button concedes he wasn't able to get the best out of his soft tyres while his problem with KERS also didn't help.
"I'm not sure my pace was entirely there on the soft tyres," he told BBC Sport.
"I think lap 13 or 14 I didn't have any KERS basically so I had to fend off Webber and Massa, which was quite interesting without KERS.
"In the next stint they said what I could do to get it back but it lasted for two laps at a time so I had to keep re-setting it. When you don't have it you don't have any braking performance. Every time I arrived at a corner I didn't know what to expect. I'm relatively happy."
