Button not giving up on McLaren

Button not giving up on McLaren

Jenson Button is adamant he wants to remain with McLaren despite the team's current troubles.

Although McLaren is a team used to fighting for race wins and World titles, this season the Woking outfit is in a battle just to score points.

With just 37 from seven grands prix, the team is down in sixth place in the Constructors' Championship, 164 points behind Championship leaders Red Bull Racing.

Added to that both Button and team-mate Sergio Perez are already out of the hunt for the Drivers' title on 25 and 12 points respectively.

But despite his team's woes and the seat opening at Red Bull next season when Mark Webber leaves, Button says he has no intention of walking away McLaren, which whom he is reportedly contracted to until the end of 2014.

"You cannot look at this year and think 'It's time to get out'," the 2009 World Champion told the Sunday Telegraph. "That's not the right way of looking at it.

"This team will win a Championship over the next few years and I want to be here for that.

"I want to build the team to achieve that. Jumping from team to team is not the right way to go racing."
