Michael Schumacher reckons Felipe Massa can come back from his current woes as long as Ferrari do their "utmost" to assist the Brazilian.
Last year, with Ferrari on the back foot, Massa became the first Scuderia driver since 1992 to complete a season without finishing on the podium.
And, after a disappointing start to the season in Australia, the Italian media is speculating that this year he could become the first in almost two decades to be dropped during a season.
However, there are some who still have faith in the Brazilian and his abilities, namely his former Ferrari team-mate Schumacher.
"If you look at all the winter testing, the two (Ferrari) drivers were very close together," the German said.
"To see the big difference we saw in Melbourne, I can only assume there must have been something not right for him.
"I trust he will (improve) and the team will do the utmost to give him the support he needs."
