Schumi's wife asks for privacy

Michael Schumacher's wife has urged reporters outside the Grenoble University Hospital where he is being treated for 'severe head trauma' following a skiing accident to respect their privacy.

"Please support our shared fight with Michael. It is important to me that you take the pressure off the doctors and the hospital so they can do their work," Corinna Schumacher said in a statement addressed "to the media".

"Please have faith in their statements and leave the hospital. Please also leave our family in peace."

The 45-year-old German racing legend remains in a medically induced coma following his accident at the Meribel ski resort last Sunday.

After erroneous reports suggested that the Schumacher's condition were showing "improvements", the hospital confirmed on Monday that no further details would be revealed about his condition in an attempt to protect his privacy, adding that any statements that don't come from either his family or the hospital itself should be ignored.
