Rubens Barrichello reckons the lap that put him 12th on the Interlagos grid was like a "pole position lap with this car.
The Brazilian, who is still awaiting word on whether or not Williams will grant him a 20th straight season in Formula One next year, has had a difficult 2011 campaign.
With just four points in 18 grands prix start, it has been arguably the worst season of Barrichello's career.
However, there was at least a reason to smile on Saturday afternoon when he qualified his FW33 in 12th place for his home race at the Interlagos circuit.
"It was a great feeling," Barrichello told the BBC. "It's been a tough year with car we've had.
"When you're home, life is a cycle, and you have to use it whenever it's on your side.
"It was a lap that was like a pole position lap with this car."
Looking ahead to Sunday's grand prix, Barrichello says he's hoping that the forecast rain will fall, boosting his chances of securing points.
"Sunday is another 71 laps. I have to do that lap I did today 71 times.
"I hope we have a little bit of rain on Sunday. I'm sure the fans won't mind bringing their umbrellas for me."
