Prac Three: Vettel does it again

Prac Three: Vettel does it again

Different day but the same story as Sebastian Vettel seized the advantage in final practice for the United States GP, edging team-mate Mark Webber.

With the track temperature a chilling 20'C there was little the teams could learn as they waited for the track to warm up. As such there were just four times on the board in the first ten minutes with Daniel Ricciardo leading Jules Bianchi with a 1:40.098.

More times soon began to come through with Jean-Eric Vergne hitting the front before he was overhauled by Adrian Sutil, who lowered the benchmark time to a 1:38.289. Romain Grosjean slotted into second place despite having a few tricky moments as he tried to keep all four wheels on the track.

Mark Webber took over at the front only to lose out as Sebastian Vettel clocks a 1:37.684 to go quickest and then a 1:37.433 to extend his advantage. Nico Hulkenberg mixed it up at the front, putting his Sauber C32 up into second place, 0.373s off the pace. He however lost out to Webber and Williams rookie Valtteri Bottas.

Swapping to the medium compound tyres for the final 15 minutes, Hulkenberg hit the front and then lowered the benchmark again to a 1:37.272. But the German could do nothing to stop the charging Red Bulls with Vettel posting a 1:36.733 and Webber a 1:36.936. Hamilton also put in a late lap to snatch third from the Sauber.
