Rosberg mystified by woe

Rosberg mystified by woe

Nico Rosberg was left scratching his head after he was forced to retire from the Chinese Grand Prix after just 22 laps.

The German started from fourth on the grid and despite losing one place at the start looked solid before beginning a sequence of pits that ended with his car parked back in the garage.

Having come for a set of medium tyres on lap six, Rosberg was back for another stop on lap 20. He was back again the following lap, reportedly as a result of a puncture, but that was not the end of his troubles.

Just a lap further down the line the 27-year-old returned to the pits and this time reversed into the garage.

"The race was tough for me today and with my set-up I had an unexpected level of understeer which made it difficult to drive. After my second pit stop, the feeling got worse and I had one front wheel in the air during the corners. The rear anti-roll bar, which influences the balance of the car, had broken so unfortunately we had to retire the car," he explained.

"It's a shame and I've had a difficult start to the season with two DNFs. But it's good to have the next race in just seven days time so hopefully we can put this result behind us with a strong weekend in Bahrain. It was great for the team to get another podium today."

The result continues a disappointing start to the season for Rosberg who was also forced to retire at the season-opening Australia Grand Prix.
