Prac Three: Vettel pips Alonso

Sebastian Vettel used the supersoft Pirellis to top the timesheets in final practice, a session that saw the top 15 separated by less than a second.

Kamui Kobayashi set the early pace before he was overhauled by Kimi Raikkonen and then Jenson Button. The latter was looking to make up for lost time having sat out most of Friday's second session with a hydraulic issue.

Practice came to an abrupt end for Nico Rosberg and Jean-Eric Vergne, both of whom were out in the first ten minutes.

Rosberg stopped out on track when his Mercedes W03 broken down while Vergne touched the grass at Turn 1 and parked his Toro Rosso into the barriers at Turn 2.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton took control of the session, setting the pace in the same fashion that he did on Friday. The McLaren driver posting a 1:14.711.

Hamilton's reign was cut short by Sebastian Vettel, who went 0.001s quicker. But it proved to be a very closely fought session as Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher, who were third and fourth, were within 0.085s of Vettel's best heading into the final ten minutes.

That was when Alonso put on the supersoft tyres and went quickest with a 1:14.448. The Spaniard's run prompted others to adopt the quicker rubber with Vettel taking the P1 slot by 0.006s.

Alonso finished in second place ahead of Hamilton, Webber, Maldonado and Massa.
