Red Bull confirm DC as their reserve driver

David Coulthard may yet find himself driving a Formula One car this season after Red Bull confirmed that he will be their reserve driver for the first two races of 2009.

The 37-year-old Scot's decision to retire last year has caused a bit of a merry-go-round at Red Bull and Toro Rosso.

His vacant seat at Red Bull was given to Sebastian Vettel from Toro Rosso while Vettel's place at the Italian-based outfit was filled by Sebastien Buemi who was Red Bull's 2008 reserve and test driver.

A spokeswoman for Red Bull confirmed Coulthard is their official reserve driver for Sunday's season opener in Melbourne and the following race in Malaysia.

New Zealander Brendon Hartley was originally lined up for the back-up role but the 19-year-old is still waiting for his mandatory Formula One super-licence.
