Bernie Ecclestone will attend this weekend's German GP despite his controversial Adolf Hilter comments.
In the build-up to the Nurburgring race, Ecclestone told the British media that he admired the German dictator's ability "to get things done," sparking heated debate over the wisdom of his words.
Ecclestone has subsequently apologised for his remarks, telling Germany's Bild that he is "sorry. I was an idiot. I regret it deeply and apologise honestly and sincerely."
However, his attendance at this weekend's race is in question as already a planned visit to Thursday's opening of a new leisure centre at the Nurburgring circuit has been cancelled.
Ecclestone, though, insists he will be present in Germany this weekend. "Of course. I go to all the races," he told the Bild.
The Times, though, believes Ecclestone is in a lose-lose situation.
'If he does (attend), he is likely to be given the cold shoulder by politicians and race officials. But if Mr Ecclestone stays away, motor racing insiders say it will be tantamount to admitting that his position has become untenable,' claims the British newspaper.
