Sebastian Vettel, who is chasing his seventh pole of the season in Hungary, has downplayed Red Bull's blistering pace in Friday practice.
Vettel and Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber blew away their rivals in the first 90-minute session at the Hungaroring, with the duo a second quicker than any other driver.
But in the afternoon run Vettel pulled away from even Webber, who had to settle for the third best time at the end of the day, with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso sandwiched between them half a second down.
In the morning Vettel had posted a lap of 1:20.976 for a track that is regularly described as tight and twisty while in the afternoon's session he went nine tenths of a second quicker to leave the rest of the field in his wake.
However, the 23-year-old German, who has been on pole at the last three grands prix, has downplayed Red Bull's pace.
"I think this morning we know what happened and the gaps were very big, but this afternoon was much more like it," he said.
"I think the Ferraris will be very close and I think in the long run if you look at the pace was very similar so again it looks tight, and McLaren are going at coming back for Saturday so you never know.
"This morning was a bit not a clear picture but this afternoon was much more like it, much tighter and the Ferraris seemed very quick again, not just on short run but also on longer run, so I think they will be very quick again tomorrow as well.
"And you cannot forget the McLarens, there were a lot of times this year when they made a good forward to Saturday."
Vettel also refuted suggestions that Red Bull will claim an easy 1-2 in Saturday's qualifying.
"It will be between us and the rest of the field - especially the McLaren and Ferraris. It is not just one or two, to be on pole you need to beat more than one or two guys on a grid."
