Korean GP organisers have just under three weeks to put the finishing touches to their circuit ahead of a final FIA inspection.
Speculation has been rife over the past few months as to whether the race, scheduled for October 24, will take place due to delays in construction, in particular the track surface at Yeongam.
Circuit promoters, the Korea Auto Valley Operation, claim the venue is "90 per cent complete" and are due to hold their first track event this weekend entitled 'Circuit Run 2010'.
Hispania Racing driver Karun Chandhok is scheduled to drive a lap of the Yeongam facility in a Red Bull Racing car to commemorate the 50-day countdown to the race.
However, it is FIA safety delegate Charlie Whiting's inspection on September 21 that will determine whether the grand prix will be given the green light.
An FIA spokeswoman said: "The FIA has been receiving weekly updates from their inspector in Korea and the construction company with regards to the track and its safety installations.
"The FIA is satisfied with the progress, even though a lot of work remains to be completed.
"A final track inspection by the FIA safety delegate will take place on September 21."
