Fernando Alonso concedes he needs a great result in the next two races or else his titles hope may be over.
Although Alonso remains fifth in the standings and still in the hunt for the World title, the Spaniard lost ground to Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber when he crashed out in the previous race in Belgium.
The Ferrari, though, is adamant that with a 41-point gap his chances of claiming a third Drivers' crown are not over. However, if he doesn't produce the goods in the next two races, they may well be.
"Obviously the less races there are until the end of the Championship, the more problems you have if you have a bad weekend," Alonso said at Monza.
"This weekend is maybe not the last (chance), but one of our last chances will come here or Singapore to recover some good points.
"There are still six races to go and I am still confident that if you are on podium in all six and win some of them it is possible to be a contender in last race.
"We are still more or less calm of our chances, but knowing that Monza is an important race, and Singapore is. Another DNF or another problem is probably a last chance or a bye bye to the Championship."
The Spaniard also denied claims that his first season at Ferrari would be deemed a failure if he didn't win the Drivers' Championship title.
"No, that is the wrong word," he said. "At the start of every season, your aim is to be world champion and if you do not achieve that, then you and the team are disappointed, but we know we are in a very competitive sport, fighting tough opponents.
"My first season with Ferrari has been incredible, the best in my life and I am a super-happy man!"
