The organisers of the Malaysian Grand Prix have announced that next year's race will start an hour earlier after this year's event was washed out.
This year's grand prix, which took place in April, began at 5pm local time after race organisers pushed back the start in order to make the event more European time zone friendly.
The late start, though, caused chaos as a heavy downpour resulted in the race being red-flagged after 32 laps as conditions were deemed to be too dangerous.
It was later revealed that race organisers were aware that the late hour would most likely pose problems and had been warned against a 5pm start.
Steps have now been taken to avoid a repeat with the Sepang organisers announcing that the 2010 grand prix will start at 4pm.
"Of course, it would have been even better if we stuck to the time we've always had," Sepang International Circuit CEO Razlan Razali told Singapore's Today newspaper.
"We are not keen on a night race but we now have a good compromise and are happy it won't start later."
