Not The F1 News: What Offer...?

After Adrian Newey said he would be staying at Red Bull, Ferrari were very keen to distance themselves from talks that just didn't happen...

Luca Probably Mis-Dialled
New Ferrari boss Marco Mattiacci says that despite frenzied speculation in the press, Ferrari never ever contacted Adrian Newey in an attempt to lure him to Maranello.

"As I said in Monte Carlo we never contacted Adrian," said Mattiacci. "We didn't offer him a $10m salary, his own technical office, a Ferrari 458, a road car project for 2017, a penthouse flat in Milan, and exclusive use of his own Lavazza espresso machine. This is all wrong."

F1 To Get New Safety Floors
Formula 1 is set to introduce new fire retardant floors in all race garages from next year. The specially constructed floors were developed on U.S. aircraft carriers to limit the risk of fire from fuel spillages. From 2015 each driver will get their own MADMAT flooring, that is, apart from Pastor Maldonado, who will get a COMPLETELY MADMAT flooring.

Marussia Drivers Clash
There is often talk in the press that modern F1 drivers aren't the aggressive macho types they once were - such as James Hunt who would punch marshals or anyone who got in his way when he was angry. This cannot be said of the two Marussia drivers who came to blows after the first lap collision that took both drivers out of the Canadian Grand prix in Montreal.

There was still serious disagreement as to who caused the accident after the race and John Booth had to step in and separate the two when Jules tweeted an unflattering picture of Max and Max unfriended Jules on Facebook.

Come Back Martin Whitmarsh...
Having said that the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix, the Monaco Grand Prix and then the Canadian Grand Prix were going to be the races where McLaren start to challenge at the front, the team now says it will be at the Austrian Grand Prix.

"I think the package we are bringing to Austria is good enough to step up and close the gap with everyone in front of us," said Eric Boullier. "Honestly, those things we said before, we were just kidding. It was Austria all along."

And Finally
Felipe Massa has slammed Sergio Perez for their accident at Turn 1 in the Canadian grand Prix. The Williams driver said that the Force India moved across on him under braking. Perez has rejected the criticism, pointing out that he didn't actually have any brakes at the time...
