Kimi Raikkonen's Abu Dhabi weekend went from bad to worse on Sunday when he retired on the opening lap of the grand prix.
Raikkonen was forced to start Sunday's race at the Yas Marina circuit from the very back of the grid after his Lotus failed a floor deflection test in the wake of qualifying.
As the lights went out, the Finn got good drive off the line only to make contract with the Caterham of Giedo van der Garde.
The impact broke Raikkonen's front suspension and put him into retirement.
"I went to the inside and then somehow managed to touch with a Caterham," revealed the Lotus driver.
"We didn't touch hard but I think the angle was very unlucky and it broke the steering."
