Booth: A confidence boost

John Booth says Marussia will tackle the rest of this season with increased belief after their Monaco points.

Despite a grid penalty and two five-second drive-throughs, Jules Bianchi brought his Marussia home in ninth place on the streets of Monte Carlo.

It was an much-lauded effort from the team, yielding both Marussia and the driver's first World Championship points.

Booth told Press Association Sport: "Hopefully it will help us secure our position in the Championship, which is good for our future.

"But the most important thing is it has given us belief in what we are doing because we are only a small band of people - just 193.

"At the recent pre-season test in Barcelona we had a few small upgrades there, a few thousand pounds worth of bits, which really helped us a lot.

"They gave us belief in what we are doing, that we have the right people, and also showed you can be a viable F1 team without spending £300million."

The team boss admits this weekend's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a very different track to Monaco but still hopes for a good showing from his drivers.

"It will be interesting to see how well the set-up developments that worked so well for us in Spain and Monaco will translate to this track.

"While we are not expecting to replicate our success in Monaco, we are hopeful we can further underline our recent performance gains with another strong race for both drivers."
