Ferrari have finally confirmed that James Allison will join the team following his decision to leave Lotus.
Allison quit his post as Lotus technical director in May and he was linked with several teams including Red Bull and McLaren, but he will join up with Ferrari.
The Italian outfit confirmed on Monday that he will join them as chassis technical director on September 1.
A statement read: "Ferrari announces that, as from this coming 1st September, James Allison will join the Scuderia in the role of Chassis Technical Director.
"At the same time, Pat Fry will take on the new position of Director of Engineering. Both men will report directly to the Team Principal of the Gestione Sportiva, Stefano Domenicali."
Allison previously had a stint with Ferrari in the early 2000s and his move back to Maranello will no doubt be welcomed by Fernando Alonso as he worked with the Englishman when he won the 2005 and 2006 World Championships with Renault.
