Toto Wolff is exceptionally proud of Mercedes' achievements in 2013 as the team exceeded their own expectations.
Claiming three race victories and an additional six podiums, Mercedes scored 360 points this past season to beat Ferrari to second by six.
And although they were a distant second to Red Bull Racing, Merc executive director Wolff admits P2 was more than his team had hoped for.
"I think being in second position in the Championship, we definitely overachieved in terms of what our target was," he told Autosport.
"We could not expect that kind of glide path from fifth to second - and throughout the season being solidly second was not to be expected."
The success, though, has been a long time coming with Wolff saying that years of putting the right pieces together in the puzzle had finally paid off.
"It is the result of many things.
"It is the result of having the right group of people working together; working with each other; having the right resources in Stuttgart. As a team this feels complete."
Having fought at the front of the pack the pressure is now firmly on Mercedes' shoulders to put in a repeat performance in 2014 - or go one better.
"We have set the expectations higher now by being second in the Championship.
"It is about what is coming next and we have to keep the momentum - that is important."
