Perez: McLaren made me a better driver

Sergio Perez insists he doesn't regret his move to McLaren last year, saying he learned a lot from everyone at Woking.

After two brilliant seasons with Sauber, the Mexican moved to McLaren for 2013 as Lewis Hamilton's replacement, but it proved to be a challenging campaign.

McLaren endured their worst season in a couple of decades and the team decided to replace him at the end of the year with Kevin Magnussen.

Perez joined Force India for the 2014 campaign and in an interview with the 24-year-old insists he improved as a Formula 1 driver during his one-off season with McLaren.

"Looking back, I do not regret anything because I learned a lot. McLaren made me a better driver... But probably yes, maybe it was not the best decision to advance my career. In Formula 1 though things change quickly, I'll see what the future holds for me."

Perez was partnered with 2009 World Champion Jenson Button last year and he has nothing but praise for the sport's elder statesman.

"Jenson is a great leader he is among the most skilled so you know exactly what you want and need from the car and that made the difference for me," he said. "Having a driver like him as a team-mate, especially in my third year in Formula 1, was something really positive."
