Kobayashi: Difficult to avoid

Kamui Kobayashi believes there was nothing he could do to avoid hitting Jenson Button in Korea as he was also hit by another driver.

As the race got underway on Sunday afternoon, the Sauber driver was involved in the first lap argy-bargy as too was his team-mate Sergio Perez.

With Perez touching Nico Hulkenberg and Button, Kobayashi finished the job his team-mate started as he smacked into the McLaren, causing front right damage.

However, the Japanese driver, who clinched his inaugural F1 podium at the previous race in Japan, says he was hit first by "someone" else.

"I was fighting for position," Kobayashi insisted. "Unfortunately when braking it was difficult to react, someone hit my car and I couldn't control [it].

"But we're fighting on the straight for postion [and] I had both cars on my left and right, so I had nowhere to [go].

"I think it's difficult to avoid."

The Sauber driver, who pitted for a new front wing, was handed a drive-through penalty only to retire later in the grand prix.
