According to reports in the German media, officials at the Nurburgring have reached an agreement with Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone to host the German Grand Prix in July as scheduled.
The agreement came after a long-running 'on again, off again' sage that circles around the bankruptcy of the legendary circuit, German publications Allgemeine Zeitung and Rhein Zeitung claim.
Hours before Rhineland-Palatinate state spokeswoman Monika Fuhr confirmed the latest reports, Ecclestone admitted that the track's future was still unclear.
"It's all a bit messy," Ecclestone was quoted by the Daily Mail.
"At the moment the race is on, off, on, off, but we're doing our best to get it sorted."
Meanwhile, the SID news agency also claimed that the race in July will be held at the Nurburgring, although "it is unclear whether it will be (called) the German or the European Grand Prix".
"It's all a little bit political," Ecclestone said, referring to the ongoing dispute between automobile clubs based at Hockenheim and the Nurburg circuit.
The Kolner Express newspaper added"government sources" had confirmed the media reports.
"This is good news for the region," said state spokeswoman Fuhr.
