Five-time World Champion Juan Manual Fangio's 1954 Mercedes-Benz has been sold for a record price at an auction in Britain.
An anonymous bidder bought the W196 for £19,601,500 ($29.6 million) at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed sale on Friday.
The previous record price for a car sold at auction was $15 million - the equivalent price of the W196 is about $29,659,000.
The 2.5-litre straight-8 Mercedes-Benz driven by Fangio won the German and Swiss Grands Prix and were the first successive wins by the German team following World War II.
James Knight, group motoring director Bonhams, told Reuters: "Today we have witnessed a bit of history."
Asked if the car would be a sound investment he said: "Demand for the W196 will be just as big, if not greater, in 10 year's time."
