Force India to 'unleash VJM06's potential

Force India are confident there is still plenty of speed left in the VJM06's tank ahead the second half of the 2013 campaign.

The Silverstone squad were excellent during first 10 races of the season as Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil scored 59 points between them to help the team to fifth place - two points ahead of McLaren. However, they know they can't afford to slack as McLaren were on the up before the summer break.

Team principal Vijay Mallya, though, feels they still have potential to "unleash", but he concedes they need to come to grips with the tyres quickly.

"We are approaching the second part of the year in the same way we approached the first half," he said.

"We know the car is mechanically sound and the drivers have been happy with it, so we need to unleash its potential. Getting on top of the new tyres is certainly a challenge and an area we are focussed on, but it's the same for everyone.

"With nine races to go and a close battle in the Championship it's vital that we are competitive on all tracks.

Both Di Resta and Sutil failed to see the chequered flag at the Hungarian Grand Prix last time out, but the former is confident they will bounce back after regrouping during the four-week break.

"We need to get the car working for us like before. In Budapest it was difficult to drive, but sometimes you get those tough weekends," Di Resta said.

"Since then we have regrouped and analysed the previous races properly and hopefully this weekend will be a fresh start. We usually do well in Belgium and everyone is determined to get back to the situation we had at the start of the year when we seemed to be punching above our weight."
