Alonso: No preference but happy with Massa

Fernando Alonso would have no complaints if Ferrari opted to retain Felipe Massa as his team-mate for a fifth year running.

With Red Bull's line-up for next season revealed last week, the focus has turned to Ferrari with the paddock wanting to know who will partner Alonso next season.

Several drivers, including Massa, are believed to be in the running with reports claiming that Kimi Raikkonen could make a return while Nico Hulkenberg's impressive performance at Monza has bumped him up the list.

President Luca di Montezemolo, though, wasn't willing to give away any clues when interviewed ahead of Sunday's Italian Grand Prix other than to say that a decision is imminent.

"Listen, we have Raikkonen, Hulkenberg, [Paul] Di Resta. I have seen so many names [in the media]," di Montezemolo told BBC Sport.

"Now we will think very, very carefully, because we don't have a gun here [pointing at is head] to decide tomorrow or after tomorrow, but after Monza this will be something I want to decide."

Which begs the question, who does Alonso want as his 2014 team-mate.

The double World Champion is adamant that any driver decision is the team's call although he wouldn't mind if they retained Massa for another season.

"We will see. The team has to make a decision," the 32-year-old, who finished runner-up at Monza, said.

"Many teams have already announced their drivers for next year and Ferrari needs to think about that. I have no preference. It's a team decision.

"I have a huge respect for Felipe, he's a great professional driver, working in the simulator and at race weekend's very hard. If the team decide to keep Felipe, I will only be happy."
